  1. What an awesome chapter to read the day after Easter! The reflection of Jesus our Messiah higher than angels, Son of God, God Himself come to the earth to save us!

  2. What a great affirmation of all the Son is! He is the radiance of God’s glory, the EXACT representation of His being and He made the world and sustains it by His power. And the wonder that God chose eventually to speak through Him after pursuing humankind for millenia. His prominence above the angels is mentioned because the Jews were enamored with them as many are today. But angels cannot hold a candle to the Son of God and even they recognize that God is the only one who deserves worship. The writer here makes a case for the preeminence of Christ over all the things that the Jews held dear. He starts in this chapter, dealing with the angels…..

  3. In the past, God spoke through His prophets and on occasion through angels, now He speaks through His son, who is not just another man-prophet or ministering spirit, but is the “express image of His person.”

  4. Hebrews is a tough book, but the main theme is not. The superiority of Jesus above all things; specifically those things converted Jews were looking to return to.

The first two verses are also an amazing opening. How blessed we are to have Jesus rather than prophets.

  5. 1In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
