After being sold, aged 17, and serving 11 years with Potiphar, Joseph was imprisoned two years. I do not doubt God’s timing; Joseph learned Egyptian, and the culture as a slave, and that required time. Meanwhile, Israel’s family had time to consider their deeds; for Israel, years of grief and sorrow. But by the end of chapter 41, Joseph is fully equipped to serve second in Egypt. He acts assertively, with peace only God can give. To the end, a heathen nation would be saved. I see in this case, God uses His saints to bring about blessings to others, that they may be won to the LORD. All the world will see the salvation of God! -reb

After two years the butler finally remembers Joseph and tells Pharoah that Joseph can interpret his dreams. God`s timing is here for now Joseph can interpret Pharoah`s dream and it will in the end save the Jewish people. Just as Joseph had previous given credit to God; he now does the same here and tells Pharah that only God can interpret dreams. After Pharoah tells him the two dreams; he then tells him what they mean. And because the dreams are the same but different he tells Pharoah that the time is fixed and will shortly come to pass. That God is revealing to Pharoah what will happen. It is interesting to note that the Egyptians had many gods. None of these pagan gods revealed to Pharoah what was to happen for after all they were man made idols and couldn`t do anything. This must had been a testimony to Pharoah of the true and living God. So Pharoah sees that this God is with Joseph and makes him second only under himself. He puts him completely in charge. So Joseph has risen from a slave into second ruler of the nation. He also was given a wife by Pharoah and had two sons before the famine came. The two sons were Manasseh and Ephraim. These two tribes become important latter when the Levites are made priests. These two tribes are given separate land areas along with the other 10 tribes. The Levites are to dwell among the other tribes and serve as priests. God bless.

One can’t help but wonder what Joseph was thinking in those 2 years in prison. Has the cupbearer forgotten me? When am I ever going to get out of here? I do have privilege here, but I am still in prison, lacking freedom and regard. What is God doing? Sounds like us when we are going through trials. And yet, when the time is right for Pharaoh, Egypt and Joseph, God creates the scenario through which Joseph can shine. I wonder what sadness or frustration was in Pharaoh’s heart for the split second when Joseph said, I cannot do it, but then, all glory to the God of the Hebrews who can! And Joseph goes from being an outcast of society to the second in command. I do believe that God has stuff like this in our own lives. Stuff He brings us through to refine and define us, where we think that we are losing and it’s never going to happen, and then God shows up and we see why He has brought us through what He did. And what He asks us for is to trust and follow Him in the process. He knows what He is doing, are we patient enough for how it is going to unfold?

Well said, Pastor Pete, I did not catch that. Joseph went from prisoner, criminal, -literally an accused rapist- to vice President in one day! Impossible!???
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, ye must be born again.
“The wind bloweth where it listeth, thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, or whither it goeth; so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.”

From prisoner to second in command. I am sure during that two years Joseph must have wondered and even questioned God’s plan, any of us would, but God certainly did not forget Joseph and brought him to a place I am sure he never imagined he would be!
It makes us think that instead of grumbling about our circumstance we should stop and think where this trial may lead, what is God doing in it, and where we might end up in the end.
Oops, correction: “Vice President” does not convey the same thought! SECOND IN CHARGE OF A MAJOR NATION!

Joseph is back In his favor again after interpreting Pharaohs 2 dreams. It all happened just as was said. I realized the wording Joseph used saying “‘I Cannot do it.
but God will give pharaoh the answer, he desires. Joseph was put in charge of all of Egypt. 7 years of Abundance and 7 years of famine . All the countrys came to Egypt as the famine was severe in all the world because of Joseph interpretation of God’s words they still had plenty.
