  1. Well God’s people came together and followed His instruction and brought their freewill offerings to make His plans come to pass

  2. It’s interesting to remember that all the materials donated for the tabernacle originated in Egypt as part of God’s plan when they were leaving.

  3. It is incredible to me how often God mentions the Sabbath when He instructs His people. It’s such a gift and yet strange that they need to be commanded to rest. It also took faith to trust God to take care of things while you were resting. Hebrews 4 actually talks about a Sabbath rest we have in Christ and it is to be a rest in our hearts!

It is also interesting to consider how much and varied material the tabernacle needed to be built. How important it was for logistics for a list to be made of what is needed. It is neat that the Bible addresses the spiritual and the practical.

  4. I also love that God equipped people to build and work the various crafts involved. They were also gifted to teach the crafts as well. It is very similar to how God equips believers in the church because many hands make the work light!

  5. God furnishes and decorates His house using the offerings of the people, both in physical gifts and acts of service, practical and artistic.

People give as their hearts are stirred:

“Take from among you an offering to the Lord. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the Lord…..”

“Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. ”

“And all the women whose hearts stirred with wisdom spun yarn of goats’ hair.”

“The children of Israel brought a freewill offering to the Lord, all the men and women whose hearts were willing to bring material for all kinds of work which the Lord, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done.”

  6. 30Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 31and HE HAS FILLED HIM with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 32to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 33to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts. 34And HE HAS GIVEN both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. 35HE HAS FILLED THEM with skill
