Reading along with us in Romans? Here’s today’s reading:

Romans 15 (NIV)

1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”.......Continue Reading

  1. We don’t have the same potential for division amongst Jews and Gentiles that the Roman church had, but boy do we have an abundance of things that can come between us. The Bible always encourages us to be unified as believers, especially within a local assembly. We have to remember the priority of Christ and his gospel and all the resources God gives us for good relationships and the capacity to accept one another. And what a great verse Romans 15:13 is. May that be true of all of us.

Now after instructing the Romans, Paul turns to encouragement, which should always be part of what we provide for people. And what an example Paul is for his laid down life for the sake of the gospel….and although Paul shares plans to visit them and move along to Spain to continue to share the gospel there, it doesn’t go down that way. But there are no indications in Acts that Paul is stinted by the change of plans. He just continues to move ahead in the circumstances he faces in God’s plan and continues to look for opportunities to share and defend the gospel and glorify God at every turn. Like I said, he is a good example to follow….

  2. “Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

    A good prayer.
