Reading along with us in Daniel? Here’s today’s reading:
Daniel 11 (NIV)
1 And in the first year of Darius the Mede, I took my stand to support and protect him.)
The Kings of the South and the North
2“Now then, I tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others. When he has gained power by his wealth, he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece.........Continue Reading
This chapter and the prophecy explained are certainly confusing but seem to line up very accurately with historical events. I did have to read several commentaries on this chapter to help get some clarity and while some of those made me more confused what I did glean from this chapter is that God is in control of all situations and can use both good and evil people to accomplish His plans. It isn’t that evil leaders get away with anything and they all eventually reap the consequences of their own evil ways and disobedience but God can use them for a time to teach or correct someone else as we saw so often in the lives of the Jewish people.
Daniel 11 is an amazing chapter of God’s revelation and control of human history. The facts of verses 2-35 played out so accurately that many so called scholars challenged the authenticity of Daniel’s authorship. Walvoord puts it this way “Such a view of course denies the power of God to reveal what He has predetermined.” In other words, God has pre-writtten the course of history.
Other challenges to Daniel’s authorship of the book have been handled as well.
The balance of the chapter after verse 35 involve the Anti-Christ and come to fruition in the last days.
Our God is an awesome God and it is to our comfort that He is in control. But make no mistake this whole chapter is a horrible time for God’s people.
Been awhile. Catching up. Daniel 7. CAN’T imagine one man receiving a vision like Daniel did. The 4 kingdoms. The 10 kings who will rule with the Antichrist. The ancient of days. And the son of man. Destroying the enemy who has raged war against the people of God. Not any wonder why Daniel says he was deeply troubled
Chapter 8. Once again for a man to be shown all that is going to occur. The kingdoms and kings that will rule. Evil kings that have no regard for God or his people. Vs 23. A king of the past or the Antichrist yet to come. Or both. Take his stand against the prince of princes. Definitely the end of times. Enemy of God will be crushed. And thrown into lake of fire. Daniel worn out and exhausted for days. No surprise at all. For a human to be given this vision overwhelming to say the least
Just read chapter 9. I’ve had enough just reading this part of scripture Daniel pours out his heart asking for forgiveness for the kingdom of Israel. With that much passion we should all be praying for our country. Trump is not the answer. Prayer is. Asking our God. To save us from the coming Godlessness. My heart breaks thinking of my grandchildren. And what’s this country will look like in 20. 30. 50 years. Seventy sevens. 70 weeks. 483 years. 69 years at Jesus death. One week left. 7 years. Tribulation
These prophecies can be very confusing especially when they sometimes for us looking back already fulfilled and then other prophecies yet to be fulfilled as they are in this chapter. I was listening to a preacher[ David Guzik of Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara]. I don`t know his teaching but he sounded like it made sense. And I have never heard him before. He teaches that verses 1–35 are passed kingdoms and he went into much detail naming the kingdoms and the rulers. And that they were fulfilled in great detail. Verse 36–45 are future events. These verses mention the end times. There is a king that will exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods. His god would be the god of forces[ power]. This seems to be the Anti Christ although it doesn`t say. In verse 40 it says that the king of the south will engage him in battle, and the king of the north will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships etc. You could read this a couple of ways. Reading from [ NIV and KJ ] It doesn`t seem to be totally clear. Are the king of the south attacking the king of the north or are these two kings attacking the Anti–Christ/ However verse 45 says that he will come to his end and no one will help him. I think that this is the Anti–Christ.
Daniel 11
Rulers are foretold in Daniel 11 from his time to the end of the world. God knows what will happen in the future, he has a perfect plan in place, complete control over it, and he will have victory over all his enemies. The foretelling of the future in this chapter is pretty amazing and is a testimony to the fact that the God of the Bible is real, sovereign over all things, all knowing and all powerful.
Daniel 11
Daniel 11 so much in these chapters I have to read the commentary’s to get a better understanding, it’s definitely talking about end times and the armies that come up against each other and the Antichrist. The beautiful holy mountain that is mentioned at the end of the chapter is Mount Zion or the city of Jerusalem.
This is the grandest, most far reaching prophecy that is in the Bible. It is amazing in the detail that is given and the large swaths of history that are covered. Even though it is difficult to follow and track, it is fascinating to see the historical references that are given here. It tracks several different Persian and Greek rulers that are referred to as the kings of the North and Egyptian rulers that are referred to as kings of the South. For centuries these nations battled back and forth, and what nation was stuck in the middle between them….Palestine, the very nation that God cares most about and Daniel is concerned about. As we studied this chapter at the Wednesday night Bible study it was incredible to see the different historical events and individuals that are mentioned here. It is so accurate in what it depicts, naysayers say that it must have been written after the events that occurred. But recognizing that there is good reason to believe what the Bible affirms that Daniel wrote it before things happened, it is a great testimony to the truth and divine inspiration of Scripture. Because God can talk about the future like it is the present and that is exactly what He does here.
Our God is outside of time and knows all that will happen. Yet He decides to fill in a man named Daniel and by extension mankind.
