Esther 8 (NIV)

The King’s Edict in Behalf of the Jews
1 That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her. 2 The king took off his signet ring, which he had reclaimed from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed him over Haman’s estate.…..Continue Reading

  1. The influence of Esther and the work of God would not be complete if only Haman was killed, but the edict sent out by him had to be corrected. We see the hand of God that the month chosen by Haman and his associates was the 12th month, so they had time to send another edict. They were wise to add a provision for the Jews to protect themselves from attack just in case people were acting according to the old edict. I couldn’t help but think it is a wise policy for the world to take for the Jews and others to be able to address those who seek to attack them. God had and has been good to the Jews, although they have had their struggles. And He has often used human agents to participate with His work.

  2. So comforting to read a chapter like this in the old testament. Reminds of genesis 12:3. I will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you. Imagine the mid east today and through history if they took Gods word as truth. Would not want to be an enemy of Israel then or now. One of the main reasons the USA came into existence. To come along side the nation of Israel. Pray for this awesome country.

  3. Esther 8 I just love a happy ending, so good to see the evil Haman had planned for Mordecai and all the Jewish people turned back on himself . so good to see His whole evil plan stamped out

  4. So God’s promise to his people continues to stand. And for the Jews it was a time of happiness and joy. And many people of other nationalities became Jews because they could see that God was with them. For they knew this positive outcome could only be orchestrated by the Lord. May the people that surround us see the mighty works of God in our lives and may they want to become Christians too.

  5. A great protection is shown to the Jews through Esther’s plea and even the ability to defend themselves in the case of any future attacks. I loved when it said at the end “And many people of other nationalities became Jews because fear of the Jews had seized them.” because it showed the obvious protection and provision for the Jewish people to a point where others recognized that relationship and wanted it for themselves. Our lives are always a chance to bring others to Christ; not just as a result of our blessings but also our perserverance, how we handle the struggles, and ultimately how we recognize and give glory to God in all seasons.
