Once again, “But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall.” So sad to see how easily we can forget where our help comes from, where our victories and successes stem. We are selfish in nature and want credit for the things that we have and do. We must remember that EVERYTHING is God’s and we are simply stewards. But Uzziah learns like many kings before him, that when we forget God we fall.
How easy it is to fall into pride when we have had success. How important it is to remember at all times that we are not the source of anything and we are no better than anyone else. But our hearts are easily deceived so we must guard ourselves against all the wrong thinking that comes our way and always remain humble.

I’m starting to notice that more righteous kings like Uzziah tend to have Israelite mothers instead of foreign ones. How important it is for children to have parents that are strong in faith in order to have a strong faith themselves.

When we are prosperous and successful it is easy to become prideful and self-sufficient, even deceiving ourselves into thinking that we should serve God in arenas He has designated to others. Pride.
