  1. There were many responsibilities involved in the functions of the temple, and so numbering and assigning the priests and Levites who assisted them was very important. It struck me that 4,000 of them would be dedicated to playing music in praise to God. How important praise is for us as it reenforces who God is and what He has done and how it is only fitting that He would be lifted high in our hearts that we may trust and obey Him.

  2. David prepares for the transition of power to his son, Solomon. With great order and care, people are placed with specific roles in the temple. It seems like the temple was a very bubbly place and there was always much work to do there. It is not surprising considering all the activity of sacrifice and worship that happened there.
