The Divisions of Priests
1 These were the divisions of the descendants of Aaron:
The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 2 But Nadab and Abihu died before their father did, and they had no sons; so Eleazar and Ithamar served as the priests. 3 With the help of Zadok a descendant of Eleazar and Ahimelek a descendant of Ithamar, David separated them into divisions for their appointed order of ministering.............Continue Reading

  1. Seems like another nice 1 Chronicles list chapter. They divided up the 24 sections of the priesthood as fair as possible under the circumstances with the casting of lots.

  3. It is sad what Nadab and Abihu did and thereby suffered judgement from God due to the misuse of holy things. How important it was for the priests and Levites to maintain the sacred nature of all the different things that God called holy in the temple and in the worship of His name. It was also important for things to be organized and different responsibilities to be delineated. It is even a bit interesting to be brought into the coordination by reading these chapters. It is amazing to imagine all the things that happened in the temple every day and all the people and jobs that needed to be assigned to get it all done.
