1 Chronicles 12 (NIV)
Warriors Join David
1 These were the men who came to David at Ziklag, while he was banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish (they were among the warriors who helped him in battle; 2 they were armed with bows and were able to shoot arrows or to sling stones right-handed or left-handed;…..Continue Reading

1 Chronicles 12
Anyone who observed the actions of Saul and David, as Saul was overcome with jealousy and pursued David relentlessly, while David continued to act with honor, would be drawn to David. God’s hand was on David and against Saul and so further reason to be drawn to David. So in one part it was David’s leadership and military prowess that brought strong and able men to him, but one wonders how much God’s favor on David lead to that as well. And how significant that God would want these warriors remembered in the way they supported David and helped establish his kingdom. How fitting for a Memorial Day passage as we remember those who sacrificed so much to establish freedom in this country as well as the world!

Just makes me wonder. God created Saul for a specific reason. And David for a specific reason. Why am I who I am. And not my brother who died at 56 from drugs and alcohol
1 Chronicles 12
David is certainly blessed by God. The banquet at Hebron must have been something.
How the tribes came together is a beautiful picture of God’s unification. It did come at much personal sacrifice and I agree with Pastor how fitting to be reading about this on Memorial Day! So different from Saul’s reign, David did not force his reign upon the people. He waited until they were willing to make David king over Israel, so while it was a slow process I think almost seven years after the death of Saul, now they celebrate with one king and one unified people.

1 Chronicles 11&12
“All these men of war, who could keep ranks, came to Hebron with a loyal heart, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were of one mind to make David king.”
