Reading along with us in Exodus and Romans? Here’s today’s reading:
Romans 10 (NIV)
1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.……Continue Reading
Salvation is right under everyone’s nose. Vs 8-9. It’s in your heart just bring it to your mouth and proclaim as we read in exodus the sprinkling of blood upon the Jewish people. Symbolizing the blood of the perfect lamb of God who took away all the sins of the world. As humans we complicate so much how to connect with God. It’s so simple!! Even a person with just a single brain cell understands
The book of Romans is an amazing book. If as a young believer you don`t know a lot of scripture; it possible to lead a person to Christ. Just by using the Roman`s road. This has nothing to do with the Roman Catholic Church as I explained while at Bible school many years ago. But is strictly using only the scripture in the book of Romans to lead a person to Jesus Christ. A young man that was only saved for three years lead me to Jesus Christ. Some of those verses are in this chapter. Romans 10;9,10,13 { That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.} These verses alone demonstrate that one is saved by calling upon the Lord to be saved. Not by our own goodness or works. Other such verses are Romans 3;23 Rom. 3:20 Rom. 5:1,8 Rom. 6:23 Rom. 8;1 Rom.8:38,39 and so much more. If you don`t know the language of a person you are sharing the gospel with and you have a copy of the Bible in their language you can show them the verses. Providing you know the references. I did this while I was in Mexico years ago. I also made sure that they knew what I was sharing. I got another brother to confirm what I shared. He spoke English and Spanish. I lead that person to the Lord. Also if you are unsure and you are sharing Christ in your own language; this method still works. Don`t be afraid to share Christ with others. He is always with you. You all will be in our prayers Saturday in the baptism, and the celebration. We can`t make it. God bless you all.
Roman’s 10
“For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Romans 10:10 NIV

Romans 10
“Brothers, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for salvation. For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.” (Romans 10:1-3 NASB2020)
Like Paul with the Jews in his time, my heat breaks for those in my time who have a strong heart to do what is right and seek truth yet ignore the things of God. They too have a sort of zeal for righteousness, but not in accordance with a knowledge of who God is and what He wants from us. They too have disregarded Him in exchange for a sense of right and wrong of their own making.
But “how then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10: 14-15 NASB2020)
Let us continue to pray for the lost around us, and continually seek opportunities to preach the Gospel to them.
Romans 10
Romans 10
Righteousness comes by faith in Jesus and not by works, but the Jews didn’t get it. They wanted a righteousness that comes by works. And so for all who need salvation, Jew and Gentile, we need to be ready to share the good news and in these days be ready for the rejection that is likely to follow. But they are really rejecting God and not us. And because the Jews did not believe because of what thy felt they understood, God brought the gospel to those who didn’t understand and thereby were more open to faith. That is us Gentiles. But the Jews have another problem too, they have disobeyed God’s message for a long time, so this rejection of Jesus and the righteousness that comes through faith in Him, is really nothing new.
Further support that it is only by Jesus that we can be saved. So many “good” people in my life but why are they “good” for what end if they don’t see Jesus as their savior. We need to believe to be saved not just be good.
But they must have the chance to hear and make that choice and that is where we come in. We must spread the good news of Jesus so that these people realize that not only is there value in being good but the greater value is believing in and glorifying the One that made us, that made everything! Our good deeds are a product of our salvation not the way to recieve it.
I was struck by vs 19-21, really a history of what God was/is doing. He provokes Israel to jealousy by offering salvation to the Gentiles who didn’t ask to be His people, but were responsive to the Jewish Messiah. They have been disobedient and obstinate despite all God has been and done for them.
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
I was just wondering what these scriptures mean:
”But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).“
Romans 10:6-7 NKJV
Is it saying that those who live by faith shouldn’t ask “who’s going to heaven or who’s going to hell” because it negates the fact that you are IN CHRIST? and evaluating your or others destination brings Christ up or down based on one’s own merit or lack thereof?
”that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.“
Romans 10:9 NKJV
That might be an aspect of it Amy, but a commentary I read mentions that Paul is probably referring to Deuteronomy 30:12-14. There Moses is making the point that the law/the right way to live is not above or afar that you need to find it, but it is right in front of you and within you as you learn it. In some sense to believe that God enables you to do it because it is right there as opposed to saying I can’t do it because it is beyond me. And so Paul is saying the same thing, verse 8 being more important and informational than verse 6 and 7. In other words, faith doesn’t seek a righteousness that needs to be discovered or sought after, like if I can only find the right standard, then I will be good (maybe it is high or maybe it is low, but Jesus isn’t in either place or isn’t sought by what you can surmise). No, faith believes that righteousness is right in front of us, inside us even, as the Spirit reveals that it is Jesus we need and the righteousness that only He can provide because He is the only One who has attained it. And He is not high or low, He is right here. That is what faith understands and believes.
Make sense?
Romans 10
Remembering the verse Rebecca chose when she got baptized years ago: Romans 10:9 – If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you WILL be saved.
