Reading along with us in Exodus and Romans? Here’s today’s reading:
Exodus 23 (NIV)
Laws of Justice and Mercy
1“Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.
2“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.……Continue Reading
Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. Stand firm on the solid rock!! Certainly seems we are seeing people in this country being exposed for lies and hypocrisy. The angel prepares the way. What a great picture of Gods presents taking care of every need on the journey to the promise land. Exactly what our lives look like with the spirit of God guiding us. Absolutely love reading scripture every day and then writing in the daily reading. Together these 2 things reminds me through the day of what I have read and helps me to keep the correct attitude daily.

Re: Romans 9: thanks to all for your helpful explanations!
Not to be political here, but did anyone see that 98 year old retired war hero last night. His name is Willam Pekrul. He was amazing! Guess what he is Melodye`s uncle. He looks just like his brother { Bob} which is Melodye`s dad. Even the behavior is the same. Both humble men and would give you the shirt off his back. I don`t know if Bill is saved but I do know that Melodye`s dad is not and is dying from stage four of cancer. Please pray for them. This is Melodye`s roots. If you only could had seen Melodye`s joy when she saw her uncle. You can look up his speech on U-Tu. By the way; Melodye`s dad is also a war hero from a latter war. God bless.
Wow! That’s amazing!
The people of Israel were to be an example to the other nations of honest interactions among everyone and their example of worshipping the only True God. They were to show kindness and fairness to each other even to their enemies who they didn`t get along with. The same is true today as Christians. We are to be the light of the world reflecting Christ. Matthew 5:16 { Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.} John 13:34,35 { A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another: as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.} Jesus in Matthew 5: 39-41 said this. Here is verse 41. { And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.} Such love is this.
How important honesty and objectivity is in every facet of life, but especially in courts where disagreements are resolved and judgements handed down. Justice is very important to God and He reminds His people that it needs to be important to them. It will also be important for them to rest in the way God proscribes. Rest from work required trust in God…and that was part of the point. They were to observe various festivals to recognize God’s work and provision amongst them as well. And even before they come to the promised land, God assures them of His guidance, protection and the fear of the Israelites going before them in the hearts of the foreign nation. God provides similar guidance and protection for us. Let us rest in and follow both
Then God instructed Israel about the sabbath year and the Sabbath Day. This was to be a reminder to Israel that God owns the land and it was theirs only as a trust. Lev. 25:23. { The land shall not be sold forever; for the land is mine; for ye were strangers and sojourners with me.} Resting on the seventh day as God as He says in the Ten Commandments that it was a day of rest from labor including rest of the animals. They were to also keep it Holy. God makes it very clear here about the seventh day. For throughout scriptures in both the old and new testaments. God in Genesis 1 rested on the seventh day as an example to mankind to rest on the seventh day. He didn`t need to rest but did anyways. God also gives instruction on three agricultural feasts to be held every year. They were {1} the Feast of Unleavened Bread which was a reminder to the people of how God brought them out of Egypt. {2} The feast of Harvest or the Feast of Weeks which would be seven weeks after the first feast during spring. {3} The Feast of Ingathering or also called The Feast of Tabernacles or The Feast of Booths. It was at the end of the agriculture or civil year. What was this statement about not cooking a young goat in it`s mother`s milk? I looked it up in The Bible Knowledge Commentary. Apparently the Canaanites cooked goats in their mother`s milk in a fertility rite. God didn`t want Israel taken part in pagan worship. It was forbidden perhaps because milk was life and not to be associated with death. Perhaps this is why the Jewish custom of not mixing milk products with meat. God bless.

Getting into specifics about not bearing false witness. We are really seeing how false witness is wreaking havoc. Lawfare, Media, politicians, judges, prosecutors. Who knows what to believe? The truth is obscured…..or deliberately twisted. What does God say about propaganda? How do we obey government when it itself is breaking the law?
Again we see how important justice, equality, integrity, and civility are to God and unfortunately these are things that just continue to break down when we look at our current political, judicial structure. Hard to trust when no one holds themselves to these standards anymore!
