  1. In the next few chapters from 21 to 30; God has instructed Moses on details in many laws on living daily lives with each other. Details also made proceeding before God, and so much more. This chapter is about servants and the dealings with them. Also about murders whether by accident or premeditated. A few noted things here are; Exodus 21:15 { And he that smiteth his father, or mother, shall be surely put to death.} Exodus 21:32 { If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master ” thirty shekels of silver”, and the ox shall be stoned.} Notice the thirty shekels paid for a servant. Then remember how Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus with thirty shekels. Not worth much but He made Himself of no reputation. This is the LORD of lords and KING of kings. God bless.

  2. God begins to give laws and judgements. It is always obvious that God expects people to be fair and just. God expects proper treatment of everyone, king and slave alike. He respects societal norms but still expects us to treat one another with respect and care.

  3. Exodus 21 vs 22-23. To think in this day and age. We are arguing about pro life or pro choice. This verse says life for life. Not fetus for life. In the 60’s my biggest concern was getting caught chewing gum. Now.!!!!! I’ll spare you the conversations 16 year old kids are having. As scripture says. Lovers of themselves. Man still wants to be sovereign. How’s man doing so far!!

  4. How many of these laws have been translated into the way our society makes judgement about matters of property and responsibility, even recognizing the difference between things done intentionally or by accident. And when someone finds themselves in the economic circumstances of being someone’s servant it is just for a time. So God recognizing the value of each one and the chance to improve the situation we are in. There is also various protection for women here to make sure they are taken care of in the vulnerable situation they would be in without the protection and provision of a man. So neat to see God’s heart of justice and care found in the way He orchestrated Israelite society.

  5. It is interesting to look back at cultural norms and how God addresses fairness, then to think of how Christ has really impacted culture to be even more fair for women and even doing away with slavery as a norm. Now we see the wickedness as culture now turns to lawlessness- abortion, trafficking, crime with no consequences.
