Clearly the focus of these past few Psalms have been Zion, Israel and Jerusalem and God’s provision and protection for them. Israel certainly had their enemies, as well as David who wrote many of the Psalms but is not mentioned here. It is good to see that the Psalms provide precedent for us to bring both hardship and blessing before God. But here we see that in spite of the enemies of Israel, there is a place for them to overcome. He freed them from the control of the enemies as well as will come against the enemies. It reminds me of the assurance that we have as believers that we are more than conquerers in Christ. That we need not fear any enemies either even though we are forewarned that we will have them. God will provide an eye in the storm with His presence and make provision for our circumstances as well.

he has cut the cords of the wicked.
