  1. I do wonder how desperate we are for God. How much do we understand our level of need and regularly turn to HIM to satisfy them? How great is our need for His mercy and where would any of us be if He held our sins against us? What are we waiting on God for…and if nothing, then maybe there is a problem. Are we concerned about His kingdom, the salvation of souls, the edification of believers, the reconciliation of relationships, those closest to us growing in their relationship with Him? I like this comparison with the watchman waiting for the morning. See when there is light there is less threat of danger because all can see. But at night, the watchman keep watch just in case evil comes. So every morning brought a sense of relief. They couldn’t wait for the night to be over. Well, do we wait on God with the same hope and anticipation? Well we should and it is the very thing the Psalmist call us to in this Psalm.

  2. 3If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
    O Lord, who could stand?
    4But with you there is forgiveness,
    that you may be feared.
    5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
    and in his word I hope;
    6my soul waits for the Lord
    more than watchmen for the morning,
    more than watchmen for the morning.
