2 Chronicles 15
It is only fitting that God would work for us when we follow Him, and yet work against us when we are not, because He can only support what is good for us. And He and His will are good, pleasing and perfect. And so Asa responds to the word given and further purifies Judah and the land taken from Israel (which probably needed a lot of cleansing), including setting his grandmother straight. May we be as responsive to God’s word. And many are drawn to Judah and God provides peace for them.
Good to see Kings like Asa trying to please the Lord in every way while many others went after false gods and foolish idol worship.

Asa does a good house cleaning in response to God’s message. Then he encourages all to worship and recognize not what their own efforts had done but rather what God accomplished through them. We can be tempted to be prideful when things are going well, pat ourselves on the back, and think look what I have done. But we must always acknowledge who gives us the power, the wisdom, even the breath to see blessings in our lives and give Him all the glory!

The Spirit of God is mighty and powerful. When it came on Azariah, he was able to prophesy in a way that greatly influenced Asa. So much so that Asa took courage and did not give up. He encouraged the people to enter into a covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. So they sought God eagerly, and the Lord gave them rest on every side. This is a good example for us who have the Holy Spirit fully available and we, like Azariah, can greatly influence people to have a heart that’s fully committed to the Lord.
“And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him with all their soul; and He was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.”
