  1. Today, I don’t have physical foreign altars and high places to destroy or sacred stones to smash and Asherah poles to cut down but these are symbolic in my life for things that hinder me from having an intimate and pure fellowship with God. These may be sinful tendencies, a habit takes up too much of my time, a critical spirit, a bitter heart, refusal to give grace and forgive or a grudge against someone. The Lord wants me to get rid of these things in my life so his blessings can flow freely and he may give me peace.

  2. “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”
If we went into every situation of our lives with this attitude oh the difference we would see. Asa puts God first and humbly realizes they can do nothing without Him or apart from Him.

  3. “Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God, 3 for he removed the altars of the foreign gods and the high places, and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the wooden images. 4 He commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment. 5 He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him. ”

God gave him rest and he was able to build walled cities and a strong army. God gave him victory in battle because he asked Him.

“Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”

  4. It is always good to see a king of Judah following God and receiving the benefits that God brings. As the book of Deuteronomy makes clear, if you obey you will be blessed. You are giving God something that He can support and affirm. And so there is blessing in Judah in prosperity, safety and then victory. And it’s no surprise that the victory leads to plunder and for the fear of God to be on Judah’s enemies. You go, Asa!

  5. Asa commanded Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandment. He also removed the high places and the incense altars from all th cities. He had 10 yrs of peace. He demolished all things that were not of God. He commanded an entire nation to follow God’s commandments.this is why God gave him peace because of their obedience. It cannot be any clearer than that. Obedience of Gods word =Peace
