1 Kings 10 (NIV)

The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon
1 When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions. 2 Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind.……Continue Reading

  1. What a great picture of what God intended Israel to be as a light to the Gentiles. We have here the clearest expression of what that wealth looked like, but in the blessings that God declared He would accomplish for all Israel, they would bring a similar result. The world just couldn’t help but see the wisdom and wealth that God had provided which causes the Queen of Sheba to do what all people should do, which is praise His name for how good and powerful He had been. I do believe in some measure the same should be true of us, not so much in the wealth we possess, but in the wisdom, love and character and conviction we have. How nice it would be for our love for each other to be so great that people will know that we are His disciples because of it. But with Solomon (and sometimes us) having so much, it is hard to not let that go to your head and start thinking that all that God has done is more about us than it is about Him. And I believe that is what happened to Solomon.

  2. 1 Kings 10

Solomon and Israel were greatly blessed for their devotion, love, and following the Lord. This was evident to the world at that time in history. What a great testimony to those nations and people that were not followers of God!

  3. It was noticably evident to all nations that God had blessed Israel and Solomon. Queen Sheba had traveled great distance to see with her own eyes and hear with her own ears of all that God was doing in and through Solomon and the people of Israel. While the description is one that puts an amazing picture in your head of what it must have looked like on a much smaller scale we can look different to people as well. We can be someone people want to speak to and hear from because of the way we live. Do we stay positive in trials, do we help others, do we seek God first and therefore have confidence even in diffcult situations? People watch us, especially when we say we are a Christian, and what do we want that to look like to them. Do we want to attract people or put them off….let’s pray that we present God’s light and love in everything we do so people might want to seek us out to know more!

  4. Oh to be a part of the heyday of Israel during this period of King Solomon! Even the queen of Sheba came from a distant land to seek out his wisdom and see what wealth he had. And she was spot on when she gave the LORD the credit for Solomon’s achievements by praising God for placing him on the throne to maintain justice and righteousness out of his love for Israel. So let us remember, our wealth and achievements come from God as well as the most important things like his righteousness and wisdom. Without the Lord, we have nothing…

  5. Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”“
    ‭‭I Kings‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Queen of Sheba comes to see for herself Solomon’s wealth and wisdom from God.
