Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions. She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind. And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from the king that he could not explain to her. And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, their clothing, his cupbearers, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the Lord, there was no more breath in her....Continue Reading

  1. 23Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. 24And the whole earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.

  2. God once again reveals His faithfulness to provide for Solomon what He promised: wisdom that wows the Queen of Sheba and wealth that was greater than another kingdom on earth. It is hard for things such as this not to go to our heads and take what God has done and make it about us. We are the most blessed nation on earth, established in Christian principles and yet how far we have strayed from them and pride, greed and selfishness seems to be more the order of the day. May I/we remember from whom our blessings flow and walk in the humility and thanksgiving and generosity that is warranted by them….

    Another thing that struck me here is we measure gold in ounces. Solomon measured in pounds and tons….well talents and bekas…..
