Reading along with us in Numbers and 1 Corinthians? Here’s today’s reading:
1 Corinthians 13 (NIV)
1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.……Continue Reading
1Corinthians 13
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

Love is the end all! Nothing else matters……
How many weddings!!!! But they are just words. You can’t understand the love of God without the Holy Spirit. Teaching us that this love is about loving others. And the joy that comes from loving others and helping. The more we are molded into the likeness of Christ. The more love we show others. Perfect chapter for the Corinthians to hear. As they were wrapped up in themselves. Faith hope and love. If you have the first 2. Your action will be love
God loves us; therefore, he always protects us, and we can always trust him, always hope in him, always persevere in him. His love never fails and it will never cease. Let us remember this when we feel unworthy of it.
Having a true understanding and knowledge of love allows us to truly know and understand Christ.
Love, a word that has become so overused in many respects that it has lost the power it deserves. I love chocolate. I love my kids. Boy those two statements mean such different things!
This world speaks of love and all you need is love but all too often it is using that watered down interpretation and so are we really loving people?
Love is patient, kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, it does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, and it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails!
If this were the love we were all actively practicing, the world would be the place God intended but even when there is an absence of hate, are we really showing each other this kind of love? We must strive to love like this, to love like Jesus did!
1 Corinthians 13
Love verse 12
One day we will see the real thing.
Love certainly is the most excellent way…and it is God’s way, for we love because He loved us first. What good is anything else if it does not lead to treating people better. Now we will never attain this love outside of the influence of God, and it will be the greatest indicator that our minds are renewed by the word and our will and conscience are directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit. And the list that Paul gives defining and describing love is spot on. And all the other gifts that we or the Corinthians might be proud of will all fade away into insignificance and love will still be present. Because gifts will not be needed in the presence of God, where love is the tenor and tone of His kingdom. How great it will be to be there, where believers will fully know because they are fully known.
The last verse of chapter 12 sets up this whole chapter: a more excellent way.
“But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.“
I Corinthians 12:31 NKJV
Love is the greatest gift.
