1 Chronicles 16 (NIV)

Ministering Before the Ark
1 They brought the ark of God and set it inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and they presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before God. 2 After David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord3 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each Israelite man and woman.........Continue Reading

  1. “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.”
    ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:8-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  2. Didn’t know there was a psalm of praise in the middle of chronicles. Let the heavens rejoice. Let the earth be glad. Let them say amount the nations. The Lord reigns!!!!!!

  3. What a great tribute David gives to our great God as the Ark finds itself in it’s new home in Jerusalem…awaiting the temple that will be built eventually. How fitting that such a circumstance would illicit praise and recognition of all that God is and all that He has done. How important it is for us to be reminded of who God is as we face the various circumstances of life, whether we find ourselves in joy or sadness….worry or temptation..nothing can stand and in the glory of His being except greater recognition of who He is. How easy it should be to praise God for all that He has accomplished on our behalf and yet even more so for who He is. And we can count on Him to remain so. And thank God that He is relational, not content to just reign on high but to seek covenant and relationship. And I was struck by the word ascribe…ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name. It is certainly not for His benefit and it’s not what makes it true….but ascribe means assign it, recognize it, affirm it….make sure you know it is true and it matters to you because it is true. And because He is everything how fitting is it for us to make Him everything to us!

  4. What a beautiful song of thanksgiving! His love endures forever! Sometimes I just need to sit in that promise.
    We can be such hasty people, easily angered and easy to walk away from difficult people and situations but His love endures forever! Through it all good and bad no matter how many times I mess up and even push Him away for my own pride or need for control in a situation that feels out of control He is still there and His love endures forever!

  5. David does all properly and in order, bringing the ark, as instructed, and leading the people in worship before Him.

    I love that David delivered a Psalm to the people.
    It was interesting to see all that we/Israel is instructed to do to pursue God.
    – Give thanks unto the Lord
    – call upon his name
    -make known his deeds among the people.
    – Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him
    – talk ye of all his wondrous works.
    – Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
    – Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.
    – Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
    – Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
    – Sing unto the Lord, all the earth
    – shew forth from day to day his salvation.
    – Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
    – Give unto the Lord, ye kindreds of the people,
    – give unto the Lord glory and strength.
    – Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name:
    (I think this is where your version says “ascribe”, Pastor)
    – bring an offering, and come before him
    – worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
    – Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
    – And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

    A good description of living one’s life before the Lord and the world.
