Titus 2 (NIV)

Doing Good for the Sake of the Gospel
1 You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.……Continue Reading

  1. Thank God that He by His grace has saved us, for without Him doing that we could never be saved. Titus 2:11 {For the grace of God that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men.} He revealed Himself to all mankind as foretold in scriptures and came the first time as a Savior to die for our sins. The second time He will appear in glory as King of kings and judge the world of sin. It will depend on whether people are written in the book of life and if they have trusted in Christ alone for their salvation. It is not depended on our goodness or our works for that would fail. Here are some key verses. Titus 2:13,14 {Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us from all iniquity, and purified unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.} The good works comes after salvation. It doesn`t earn our salvation. It is a result of what Christ has done in our hearts after we have come to Christ. Such wonderful scriptures to teach us how to walk in Him. Seek Him, Serve Him.

  2. All of us should live in a way pleasing to God, but Paul instructs Titus to teach certain things toward different groups presumably because there would be a tendency for them not to do them. Different ages, genders and circumstances create different dynamics of temptation and falling into ungodly habits. Generally those who are older should be setting an example to those who are younger and men should minister to other men and women to women. This both removes a level of temptation or misunderstanding that could happen otherwise, but even more so, there being a greater understanding of what those of the same gender would be dealing with in their lives and in their souls. And all this is for the testimony of the gospel and that the gospel would not be discredited in any way. Because the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to everyone. And it’s intent is not to justify sin, but to give us a reason to say no to it. This present age is evil and temptation to follow its ways are all around, but when we grasp hold of how good God is and how His ways therefore must be for our good, we find the influence to reject the ways of sin and the world and embrace the ways of God. And when Jesus returns we will see even more clearly that God’s ways are the best ways.
