Romans 14 (NIV)

The Weak and the Strong
1Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.......Continue Reading

  1. Hope I’m never a stumbling block or an obstacle to anyone’s spiritual growth. Saw enough of that in previous churches. Made me sick. Judgement outside of sin has no place in a church. I want to say. Even if you wear a mask into church, I won’t! I’m still being humbled!!

    1. I was thinking about masks and vaccines while reading this as well, Mark!
I struggle to discern where the line is between informing people of the truth, and letting them remain in ignorance for the sake of relationship. Thus far, the relationship has been the deciding factor.

  2. This is a reminder for me to not make secondary matters be a stumbling block for my fellow believers. What is important is my faith – the heart behind my actions and I should also stop judging others’ heart behind what they do specially if it’s not outright a sin.

  3. How important it is not to expect other people to be like us, especially when it comes to things the Bible does not directly address or in areas of common disagreement. We live our lives primarily before God and should be concerned with doing things right in His eyes rather then judging others for what they are doing or not doing. It is also important not to rationalize things that are wrong or not have the freedom to do things the Bible would allow freedom in. It makes being in the Word, the Spirit and in prayer essential and allow God to have an open invitation to speak into our lives. And with people we are close with, it is good to have open conversation about things and allow iron to sharpen iron without requiring people to think or act like us. It is ok, though, to point people to what Jesus did and taught, but then leave it to Jesus to deal with them rather then judging them for what we feel to be lacking.
