Reading along with us in Revelation? Here’s today’s reading:
Revelation 19 (NIV)
Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall
1 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
2 for true and just are his judgments.
He has condemned the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.
Revelation 19
Revelation 19 fulfills the prophet Enoch. “The Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them, of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Read Luke last night. Jesus made clear he will come again, and stay on earth with his saints. Consistent with what I read in the new testament., and old testament. His kingdom come!
Used to believe the marriage supper of the Lamb occurred in 19. Do not believe it now. Not until the last enemy is destroyed, which is death, can there be any real celebration of marriage. Revelation 21. New heaven, earth, New Jerusalem!
Birds get their supper too! Many are taken, killed, dead, after they fight Christ. Quite consistent with gospels regarding Christ’s return, and Ezekiel.
Just my perspectives, to me, chapter 19 is the key to Christ’s return, the rest is sequential, Peace, gordy
Jesus now as judge who is called true and righteous will defeat the great whore [Babylon ] and avenge the blood of the saints. Voices called out with praises for the Lord God Omnipotent. [ All powerful.] In verses 7 –10 the marriage supper of the Lamb is referred to as come. This would be before the millennial reign of Christ in chapter 20. For Christ does have the complete victory here in chapter 19. Peace is brought to the earth before His actual reign. Jesus is seen riding on a white horse going into battle with His armies which were in heaven. He is called Faithful and True and has eyes like flames of fire and has many crowns on his head. If we were still wondering who this person is it is confirmed when he is called The Word of God. He is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. The beast [Anti-Christ ] and the false prophet will be cast into the lake of fire by His sharp sword that comes out of His mouth. The devil Satan ] will be dealt with in chapter 20. Satan will be bound for 1,000 years. God bless brothers and sisters in the Lord.
The above comment is from Dennis.
Revelation 19
I don’t know, Pastor, I started reading along with this Bible study January 1, 2021. Does this mean I have read through the whole Bible …or not yet? It has been truly remarkable, taking this walk in the company of brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and especially a blessing to be ministered to daily by our Pastor. God is so good!
And it is great to have you with us and as well you encouraging Dennis to join us. I do hope you continue to comment too. I believe it takes us about 2 1/2 years to get through the Bible reading mostly a chapter a day, but Kellly might know better. I do know we are nearing the end of this round and will go through it again. A chapter a day seems to be a good pace to me….
The praise of God sounded like roars of the ocean and thunder! How awesome this must have been for John to hear!
Even more awesome the Lord comes in such a display of power to execute judgment. Always sad to know so many will deny God right up until their own death but the picture painted in this chapter should motivate us to share the power of the King of kings and Lord of lords to all in hopes they will not need to know this fate!
Revelation 19
A similar celebration that happened when the lamb is shown worthy to take the scroll happens now as the elements of His victory are secured. The first enemy is the sinful and deceptive world system bent on pleasure and persecuting believers. Jesus is their vindication as the system is taken down. I do love how the angel rejects worship and yet his statements are followed by a vision of the One who deserves worship, as His victory over the beast, false prophets and the power brokers of the world is accomplished. It is interesting the juxtaposition of the wedding supper of the Lamb and the great supper of God. It is a stark contrast of the blessing that comes to those who believe and the destruction that comes to those who war against them. Anyone who cannot recognize that Jesus is both the great Savior and the One who treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God (v15), doesn’t really understand Jesus or God. It is His character that drives God, not human opinion. His love drives Him to save because He knows that His righteousness must judge those who reject and don’t receive His salvation.
There is rejoicing in heaven over the judgment of the great whore.
There is rejoicing in heaven for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.
(I watched a sermon that was saying that those called to the supper are not those who will marry the Lamb, they are invited to the celebration. The church is the bride and the saints (the 144,000 and those who do not take the mark?) are those invited to attend.)
