let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
turn your ear to me and save me.

to which I can always go;……Continue Reading

  1. When people and circumstances come against us there is nothing like having God as our refuge. He is both willing and able to be available to us and will do all He can to accomplish His will for us and through us. And that really should be enough for us. And He cares about us and knows how hard it is to have people against us and so Who is more competent to answer our prayers and the cries of our hearts when we find ourselves in this place. And therefore we can always have hope and find reason to praise ad thank Him for all He is and all He has done. So as David pours out his heart in Psalm 71, Solomon prays that all these things that God would do for David, He would do for him as the King of Israel in Psalm 72. He desires for God to bless and enable Him as king to be a good king so he can be for the people what they need him to be. Just what any leader should desire as to how God would not only bless and supply but also help him to act right.

  2. It is interesting to finish 2 Samuel and then read some Psalms because it gives some of the emotion behind the events of David. It is clear that David had both blessings and trials but always remained faithful to God. God was indeed a refuge for him and a place to go when he needed clarity. It is a good reminder to us to take regular resets in Him. When life is crazy, good or bad, we should be seeking God to find the rest, reassurance, strength and wisdom only He can provide.

  3. Psalms 71-72. I wholeheartedly agree with you pastor Peter. I had some issues with some very trying circumstances both of a financial situation and others. I prayed for help from God. I placed these into his hands. I felt my shoulders relax and my mind clear so that I was able to make better decisions. One of the most serious questions was the tenuous financial position I had to deal with. This morning I opened my mail and there was a substantial dividend check that more than covered my debt. Praise God!
