Psalms 35-36 (NIV)

Of David.
1 Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me.
2 Take up shield and armor;
arise and come to my aid.
3 Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me.
Say to me,
“I am your salvation.”..........Continue Reading

  1. We know people will come against us and our road will not be easy but we need to call out to God for help. He will be with us as He was with David.
    7 How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

  2. I’m still loving 33-34. In the middle of a battle. To read these words are so encouraging. Going to try to memorize some of these verses. 33-20. We wait in hope for the lord. He is our help snd our shield. WOW. !! 34-4. I sought the lord snd he answered me. He delivered me from all my fears. Soothing words. Was looking at the back wall at church today. Wondering what shade I am. And what shade I will be when the lord is done. I have an idea!

  3. Reading psalm 35-13. I am in no way comparing myself to David. But ironic. I’ve been praying all day every day. Believing God would deliver me from disease. It’s been a few weeks. Couldn’t sleep last night and questioned God and got a little angry. Where are you.! Why don’t you answer me! Oh but he has. He’s creating. Masterpiece

  4. Isn’t it nice to think we can sick God after those who come after us unjustly? I say unjustly, because if we are at fault, then the Bible always calls us to address our wrongs. But for those who are our enemies, we need to put them in God’s hands and then act towards them in the way God would call us to…..to even love our enemies. We can do that because we know that God is working on our side. Because as Psalm 35 tells us, the level of wickedness in the hearts of man is great. And as people reject God and His standards more, then the wickedness will increase and the rejection and persecution that will come our way will increase as well. And in the presence of that it is comforting to know that we can hide in the shelter of His wing and know His unfailing love for us……and ok, as well as knowing He will get our enemies to the extent that it is right to do so.

    And I just love that this is for high and low among men….ie people!

  5. Our call is to share the gospel with those in wickedness and unbelief. I am comforted, though, that it is not wrong to ask God for justice and vindication upon those who seek to do us harm. I have always had the mindset, “oh, it’s wrong to pray for vengeance on my enemies (not thinking of anyone I know personally!), I need to pray for their repentance and salvation,” but David prays for vengeance all the time! I guess when people are purposefully seeking to kill you and oppress the poor and plot wicked schemes, prayer for their plots to turn upon them is justified.

    And in his distress, David doesn’t forget to praise and thank the Lord.
    “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
    Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
    8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
    And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
    9 For with You is the fountain of life;
    In Your light we see light.”
