Psalm 91 (ESV)
My Refuge and My Fortress
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.........Continue Reading

  1. There is some relationship between he who ‘dwells’ and he who ‘abides’; I wonder if the shadow of the Almighty is figurative for God’s favor?

I recognize verses 11 and 12 as the verses Satan uses to tempt Christ in the wilderness (Matthew 4:12)

    Psalm 91:14 (ESV)
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.

What a beautiful picture that aptly describes God’s desire for the nation of Israel as we have read through Ezekiel. God will provide shelter and protection because ‘he knows my name’. And when we call to Him, He will answer us! Thank you, blessed Father.

  2. The Word of God often uses under the wings of a bird as an illustration of how He keeps us safe. Pinions are the ends of the wings of a bird. I think of when a chick hides in its mother’s pinions, no one can see it. It’s warm, safe, and any attacker has to go through the mom to get to it.

  3. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
When we trust God, he provides what we needs and protects us from evil.

  4. What a privilege it is to have God as our refuge! I think the shadow of the Almighty refers to be under His protection/under His covering. And what a wide shadow God cast with room for all to find a place of solace and security. It’s unfortunate that too often we scurry away. May we remain in Him and thereby be able to trust in God’s promises given here of His protection and provision.

I couldn’t help but think of the song that is based on this Psalm…blessed be the Lord!

  5. Refreshing !!!!!!!!!!!

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his pinions,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
5 You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
