Psalm 50 (NIV)

A psalm of Asaph.
1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord,
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to where it sets.

God shines forth.……Continue Reading

  1. So much in this Paalm:
”“Gather My saints together to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
It struck me that when we now make a covenant of faith with God, our sacrifice is Jesus.

”“If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, Or drink the blood of goats? Offer to God thanksgiving, And pay your vows to the Most High.“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We do not “feed” God. His desired offering is thanksgiving. He makes it so easy for us. Why do we not come to Him?

”Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
He wants us to cry out to Him in our need.

    The wicked have done evil.
”These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, And set them in order before your eyes.“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
    They forget God.
    He will set it right.

”Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  2. God is pleased when his followers are humble, grateful and thankful. He is with them and will deliver them when they call on him. To those who claim to be followers of the Lord, but do things that are detestable, they will be held accountable for it. God will not put up with it for long, for he is a God of Justice.

  3. God judges the whole earth, both those that are His people and those who give no regard to Him. He desires His people to come to Him and trust Him, but also to realize that He does not need anything from us. And because He does not need anything from us, it purifies everything He does for us and all He asks of us. He asks for sacrifices not because He needs them, but because it is good for us to do that for Him. He appreciates our thank offerings and fulfilling our vows to Him, but He does not need us to. But the wicked have no standing with Him, even if they happen to say or do things that are consistent with His ways. They are against Him and pursue evil and therefore will be judged. But how God would desire that they turn to Him and find the benefit of what righteousness brings..
