Psalm 45 is actually what is called a Royal Psalm. Although there are verses that point to the King of Kings and certainly Messiah, King Jesus could also be a prophetic reference here. But the main focus is on the Davidic, earthly king. And this one is written in the context of a royal wedding. It is praising the king and his wife and celebrating them and their love. It certainly shows the regard Israel had for their king, recognizing the authority that God placed in him.
