Reading along with us in selections from Psalms and Proverbs? Here’s today’s reading:
Psalm 37 (NIV)
Of David.
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.……Continue Reading
2 3The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
A beautiful chapter on the rewards of following God. Not a promise that this world won’t come without challenges but that we will never be alone in them. That even if it appears that the wicked are fourishing in this life the end for them is only death. We not only have God with us through the trials of this life we can look forward to an eternity with Him after!
Psalm 3
Psalms 37
Not psalm 3
Such a great chapter on trusting God, hoping in him, doing good, not envying the wicked.. Had to google “delight”.. Delight means “please someone greatly”. I want to be in this state constantly.. to be pleased greatly in the Lord and let him give me the desires of my heart.. Doesn’t mean he will grant all my wishes but by being close to him, my desires will be easily aligned to his will…
Take delight in the lord. And he will give you the desires of your heart. How those desires change with aging and maturity
Psalm 37
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not
fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. This is so very true. Many times I’ve stumbled and came very close to falling. But when I came to a place where I had no choice but to let go of my control, God took hold of me, he lifted me up, he restored me, and it made me stronger and wiser.
Psalm 37
Sometimes we read passages about the unrighteous and we start to worry about those who do wrong and the self-deceived attitude they have about their lifestyle (just look back at yesterdays comments). But in this chapter we’re told several times not to fret over those who do wrong. We simply delight in the Lord and trust He’ll work everything out for us.
“though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” (v24 NIV)
Psalm 37
“Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.”
