  1. A few things jumped out at me in this Psalm. The first is the encouragement to sing God a new song. It is important at times to break out of the familiarity of our expression to God and push the bounds of creativity and understanding so we appreciate more the depth and unbounded nature of God’s very being and how in all aspects He is worthy of praise. And we are encouraged not only to praise Him with our voices but also our bodies with dancing and musical instruments. The second is the thought that God takes delight in His people. How incredible is that. Certainly this applies to when we are properly related to Him and following Him, but it is great to think that we can give Him pleasure. The third is that the saints are instructed to sing for joy on their beds. That may mean we begin or end the day with songs of joy or those songs come when we are laid up in bed. Regardless, all seasons can be filled with songs of joy.

    The Psalm then moves from the praise of God to the praise of God and the vanquishing of enemies. God is concerned about that aspect of life as well and is by our side to protect and provide….Praise the Lord!

  2. Praise Him in:
    sing
    dance
    play instruments
    in executing judgment

    In reading the Psalms, this is not the first time that I have seen David praying for vengeance in the most graphic forms.

    Jesus came to save us from our sin, he will come again to execute judgment.

    I like that the portion of praise, worshiping in singing and dancing concludes with the statement that God is pleased:
    For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
    He will beautify the humble with salvation.

  3. For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
    he adorns the humble with salvation.
    5Let the godly exult in glory;
    let them sing for joy on their beds.
    6Let the high praises of God be in their throats
    and two-edged swords in their hands,
