The writer here regrets the type of people he is associated with and calls to the Lord for help. And what a comfort to know that God hears our cries and responds in ways that will ultimately be best for us. Most commentators believe the reference to Meshech and Kedar are symbolic for treacherous people and therefore just reenforces the general sentiment of the Psalm that the writer wishes to be separated from such but seems as if he is in the midst of them. With one who hates peace.
I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.
I have also been reading and posting from John and studying in 1 Thessalonians for our next women’s study.
I read this this morning and it reminded me of Pastor and Spencer’s teachings on personal responsibility:
1 Thessalonians 4:
11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, 12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. – the ESV says, “and be dependent on no one.”
