  1. Verses 16-36 tell of Israel’s journey into Egypt and shows God’s sovereignty over all of that time even the time when God turned Egypt’s hearts to hate his people (v25). How many times in these verses does the Psalmist say ‘He [God] sent, or turned, or did something to honor the covenant with Israel, with Abraham.

When I reflect on this Psalm and consider all that God has done for Israel, how much more he does for us, who were bought with the blood of Christ. Praise the LORD!

  2. For He remembered His holy promise,
    And Abraham His servant.
He brought out His people with joy,
    His chosen ones with [d]gladness.
He gave them the lands of the [e]Gentiles,
And they inherited the labor of the nations,
That they might observe His statutes
    And keep His laws.

    Praise the Lord!

  3. There are so many things to praise God for, and here in Psalm 105, David praises God for all the things He has done for and through His people Israel. What a central part of God’s character and plan for Him to choose a people for Himself and not because of who they were or the benefit they could bring to Him, but for all the things He would do on their behalf. He does work through the history of the big names: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Moses, and think of all the ways God worked to direct, protect and provide for them. What blessing He intended for them and how they would reflect to the world the greatness of God. All good reasons to praise the Lord! If only they were as faithful to Him as He was to them. The parallels to us as God’s people are many, but we are just a further reflection of God calling a people to Him, but not based in race, but based in faith and established through the work of His son Jesus. Truly, praise the Lord!

  4. 43So he brought his people out with joy,
    his chosen ones with singing.
44And he gave them the lands of the nations,
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
45that they might keep his statutes
    and observe his laws.
    Praise the Lord!
