Proverbs 3 (NIV)
Wisdom Bestows Well-Being
1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.……Continue Reading
The book of Proverbs is a wonderful book about godly wisdom. It also makes a good devotional book for each day of the month for there are 31 chapters. The Lord wants us to have His Wisdom in our daily lives. How else do we attain His wisdom except by asking, reading, studying, meditating, and memorizing His Word. One of the first verses that I memorized was Prov. 3:5,6 { Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding; In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.} This is because our thoughts and our wisdom is limited. And our hearts are wicked and we can`t trust it. We need His Wisdom and thank the Lord that we also have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us to also lead and teach us. This is why whenever I pick up the Bible I ask for His wisdom and direction in my life. He always continues to reveal to me new things. We should always be teachable and not think that we know it all. I also use to go through this book with my son {Michael} when he was a teenager and have used it for my own. Just look at all the good verses in this chapter. I will only mention a few of them. For example verse 3 says that we should never let mercy and truth forsake us. This means that we should always be merciful toward others whether they deserve it or not. Remember how God showed us mercy by taking our place on the cross when we were not worthy for we are sinners. And then there is truth. We must always speak the truth with love for God is TRUTH. These two things are to be written on our hearts. Prov. 3:5,6 says to trust God with all our heart. This implies our whole being of heart, soul, mind, and strength. We lack knowledge and wisdom in ourselves and only He can lead us in a straight path, while we will only fail. Verse 7 says not to be wise in thine own eyes. Then as it says in verse 26 that the Lord should be our confidence. We can therefore allow Him to work in our lives for He is always true to His word and is always truthful. Here is a side note to what God says about creation and how He made it. Referring to the book of Genesis and creation. Proverbs 3:19,20 {The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath He established the heavens. By His knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.} God bless you all.
Romans 13/Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
When I read of all of the benefits of wisdom and knowledge, I think “what is wisdom and what is knowledge in these verses?” Steve said, “well the fear
Of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
It’s not something we have in and of ourselves:
”Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.“
Proverbs 3:7-8 NKJV
So much is attached to wisdom in these proverbs. With all these benefits and promises, seems I should spend most of my time getting it!
Tree of life.
Life to your soul.
Happiness.
Healthy body.
Sweet sleep without fear.
Confidence.
It is one thing to know something. It is another thing to know how to apply that knowledge to life. To do that well is wisdom. But to do that without understanding who God is in relation to us is no wisdom at all.
Proverbs 3 verse 5Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Love that verse, we must acknowledge God in all our ways. We must always put God first even in our giving it’s him first, our first fruits should be first to honor God , accept his discipline because it is guidance for us, and discernment so we can gain knowledge and wisdom. We need to make right choices in life, so we can draw closer to God.
Psalms 12-18
Proverbs 1-3
A primary decision we need to make in our lives is who knows best what to think and what to do: us, others or God. When we decide that it is God and let that reality permeate every facet of our lives, what we do, think and say, we will reap all the benefits found here. Our lives will be secure in our minds, our relationships will be as good as we can make them as far as our part in them, we will treat people well and God will be active in our circumstances. We will thereby present to Him a life that He can bless, but how and to what extent will be up to Him. But our decisions themselves will bring good things because good decisions bring good consequences. In fact knowing God, having His presence with us, being used by Him and knowing how to be is the greatest blessing of all, which leads to a great contentment and lack of need in other things-all that is its own reward. And when we live and function in that reality, that is wisdom.

Proverbs 3
These are words to live by daily. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways yield to his authority. Fear the Lord and reject sin. Honor the Lord by giving to those in need. Let wisdom guide you in all things, maintain sound judgment and avoid revealing private information about people. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes people who are evil. Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, and do not accuse anyone for no particular reason—when they have done you no harm.
