  1. The daily routine in regards to the tabernacle and the priests was equally as detailed as every thing else. A family clan each to perform needed parts.
It did remind me of the tradition and ritual style that Catholicism still hold to today in that certain people have certain “jobs” to do as part of their services.

  2. Numbers 4 God was very specific in his instructions and very detailed in how they were to move things and how some tribes couldn’t touch the holy things or they would die or see the Holy things or they would die. I’m just glad we have Christ, he came so we could have freedom in him.

  3. It was interesting to read and yet made perfect sense that the most sacred elements of the tabernacle would be touched only by the priests and they would be covered for the Levites to carry and even see them. Death seems like a stern consequence for touching the things that were sanctified, and yet to be forewarned is to be responsible for your own actions. It was also another way for God to make a distinction between what was sanctified and what was common. Much of Israelite life was oriented to God’s priority and distinction. All to make sure God had His proper place, because as they gave Him that place, they could understand how worthy and able He was to be trusted in any circumstance. So the rules were not to benefit God, but to benefit the people. And here, they were faithful to count in the way God commanded…..

  4. 46So Moses, Aaron and the leaders of Israel counted all the Levites by their clans and families. 47All the men from thirty to fifty years of age who came to do the work of serving and carrying the tent of meeting 48numbered 8,580. 49At the Lord’s command through Moses, each was assigned his work and told what to carry.
Thus they were counted, as the Lord commanded Moses.
