  1. Moses knew he would die before entering the promised land, however, I am sure it was still difficult to face now that the time had come. But as always, Moses handles it very well with his heart always for God’s will and the people. Joshua as a replacement seems well earned even if not a direct line of Moses but God refers to him as a “man of Spirit” showing us that in God’s economy more important than lineage, power, or wealth is always the state of our hearts.

  2. It is neat to see Z’s daughters get his inheritance and further establish a policy that daughters would get the inheritance of a man with no sons. God also allows Moses to see the land even though he will not enter it. He even reminds Moses why this judgement is upon him. But Moses in his humility doesn’t complain, but in his wisdom asks God to raise up another leader. Joshua has shown himself to be the right person both in his trust in God and his ability to lead. It shows again how important leadership is and how important it is for leaders to have the character needs for the role they will play.

  3. ”And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.“
    ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭27‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  4. God cares for us. He sets up a process for a father’s inheritance who has no son, and he does not take away the right of a woman to receive it. The Lord grants Moses’ request by setting up a plan for the transfer of leadership so that Moses can depart the world knowing that all he sacrificed for the Israelites was not in vain. God listens to our prayers, and he works all things out for the good of those who love him.
