Why did God create the local church, and why is it so important for every Christian to be a vital, active part of one? One of the ways Roman soldiers used their shields in battle was to stand side by side, shields abutting one another, creating a solid wall of protection and defense against the enemy. In the same way, faith in Christ is designed by God to be lived side by side with other believers. What happens when we pull away from fellowship?
