  1. Since we just finished with the Life of Jesus, I am suggesting we continue in the book of Job. So let’s read Job 20 today, and Kelly can update this as soon as she sees it.

  2. Interesting perspective on childbirth. Elizabeth is barren, and is a “reproach” interesting parallel to Job, who is afflicted and it is perceived as something he did wrong or is being punished by God. Women who are barren also somehow blamed for an affliction not their fault! Also interesting that God chooses a barren woman and a virgin to “host” special men divinely elected for this specific plan. The women see their pregnancies as service to God and see that there is way more than conception as a blessing to them personally, but for a nation.

  3. Gabriel must have been a very special angel to be sent to give the news of the coming of the Messiah. He gives the purpose for John the Baptist – to bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord God to make ready a people prepared for the Son of God. Zacharia asks how can I know this to be true? And he is disciplined for it. Mary asks, how is this going to happen? And she is given an answer. And last words that Gabriel says to her is “no word from God will ever fail”. We can find much hope in that statement.
