”Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”“
Luke 14:15 NKJV
Jesus goes on to give a parable about a dinner, the invited guests decline and the man sends his servant out to invite strangers.
Jesus came to the Jewish people but they didn’t accept the invitation. Jesus was telling them that His invitation would be going to the Gentiles.
Lenten Dsy 6
I love the parable about the lost sheep and how there is so much celebration when it is found. So many of us were lost and heaven celebrates when we are returned to the flock!
4:53 – 4:56
4:45 – 4:56
We are given the invitation to our master’s table in heaven. Everyone is invited. Yet how is it possible that there are those who choose not to attend for the gift of forgiveness and salvation through Christ…Regardless of who they are, they too are being invited and it is up to Christ’s body of believers to bring them to the masters table as well. May our hearts always be prepared to find and to save the lost and may we do this humbly and boldly. Choosing to follow Christ is a lifetime of daily commitment and comes with many sacrifices, but there will be a day when we will be honored and blessed in Gods kingdom.
“God is more willing to save sinners than sinners are to be saved” ~ what an AWESOME God, we have!
Amen, Sue!
Romans 3 & 4. Independent reading.
Great scriptures. Not to be seeking worldly status. Hard work. Suffering. Being humble. Sacrificing. We will sit in the banquet with our Lord. All worth it. Carrying our cross and following Christ. Knocks out those that our superficial or looking for God to do something in their lives. Total submission. A builder sits down and figures how much his house will cost. How much does it cost us to follow Christ till the end
4.56 🙏
It is interesting to see how many times Jesus heals on the Sabbath. Here He is doing it again. I think that it may be for a few reasons. For one He as a Jew would go to the synagogue and it would be natural for Him to teach and heal there. Although in this situation He was at a Pharisee`s home. But it also be true for He was in front of Pharisees here. He was also exposing the Pharisees for who they truly were. They were also sinners who needed the Saviour. But for the most part they were blind to their own spiritual needs. They thought that they were better than anyone else and it showed as they looked to sit at the best seat at the very table that Jesus sat. Of course Jesus being observant used this as a teaching moment. Jesus did this quite often in His teaching. He would observe something happening around Him and use it. There were other times when He would teach from something that already happened. And so much more for He was God in the flesh and knew the scriptures. Jesus wants all sinners to come to Him. That is why the call is made for all to join Him at the great supper with Jesus in the end. For those who know Him. Those who don`t see their need for Christ will miss out and end up in Hell. When we follow Christ; He is to be the most important of our relationships. For all our relationships should come from us knowing Him first. No matter how broken we are. He is our strength and our rock. May He bless each of us as we look to Him.
Lenten 2024-Day 6
Here
Jesus once again finds Himself in a place to heal on the sabbath and getting flack from the Pharisees for doing so. But He also makes arguments that gives them no basis to disagree with Him. Legalists typically strain at a gnat and swallow a camel…and these Pharisees are not an exception. He also let’s us know we should not be like them and look for the best position, but in humility take the lesser position, and if it is appropriate for you to take a seat of honor, let someone else tell you that. Humility is a mindset and not just a behavior. In fact that same mindset should have us providing things for people that can’t return the favor as opposed to those who can. It’s like God welcoming people into His kingdom. He will have people there, so if the ones to whom the offer was originally given reject God’s provision for entry, well then God will just invite others. This is certainly a slap in the face and an encouragement to the Jews who hear this..because Jesus really wants them to take their seat, and seating is only limited by man’s desire and willingness to believe. Because when we come to Jesus, it is important for us to count the cost. Our life in Jesus will cost us something and so He wants to prepare us for that. What it costs us though are the things of the flesh which are destructive to us anyway. And what we gain in the Spirit is far better. Because what we can know is that God will always pursue us. He leaves those that are already in the pen to find the one who has strayed away. How wise we are to come under His protection and care as the Good Shepherd.
Lenten Day 6
Everyone who makes themselves important will be made humble. But everyone who makes themselves humble will be made important.
Humility and priorities are looked at in these sections. How are we looking at ourselves and how are we treating others? God will chase the one and leave the 99 to do it. He is actively pursuing us but are we doing the same, we need to let go of the earthly things that we think are important and realize it is our faith in him and relationship with Him that is most important above all other people and things!
