  1. Why seek ye the living among the dead? Luke 24

Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, that was crucified; He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Behold the place where they laid Him. Mark 16

The women expected to find the lifeless body of Jesus still entombed, and why would they expect otherwise? The life was gone. The flesh cold, decaying. Hope lost. Yet, to their amazement….

God would not leave His soul in the grave, He shall never see corruption.

    Truly Jesus is risen.

“Buried with Him in the likeness of His death, Raised in the likeness of His resurrection, so shall we also walk in the newness of life.”

Again, Jesus is our example, if we are saved, we have been spiritually crucified, killed, and the law of sin no longer has hold on us. We, the old we, are dead, and decaying. What comes forth by the power of God is quickened beyond understanding. If then, the old sinful Gordon is buried in the tomb, why would the new life Gordon ever go back there to visit it? No More!

We live in Christ, our old self is dead. This Easter, let’s not go back to that old man, ever again. “Neither do I condemn thee. Go, and sin no more.”

  2. Mary of magdela. To those who have been forgiven of much. Will love more. What a great example of thankful living. To be present at the crucified Christ. To be the first to go to the tomb. To be the first to see Jesus. The Father allowed all this because of the very grateful heart Mary had. Think of all the sins that died with Jesus. Many were mine. For that reason. An everlasting grateful heart

  3. 6 ¶ But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here.

  4. ”And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.“
    ‭‭John‬ ‭20‬:‭14‬-‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

On His way to the heavenly altar Jesus stops to comfort Mary. Later He sees the other women and allows them to touch Him because He had gone to the Father to make atonement and be glorified.

  5. 6.1 through 6.4

It is not an accident that Jesus appeared to the women first…we know that God shows no partiality! Romans 2:11, Acts 10:34 among many other references.

  6. Christ has risen from the dead just as He has said. Risen on the third day. He was after all; God in the flesh. No one was even expecting Jesus to come back from the dead. Not His followers and not those that opposed Him. It wasn`t until Jesus and His angels proved that He was risen and they saw the empty tomb that they actually believed. Even latter the disciple Thomas { one of the 12} didn`t believe until Jesus appeared before him. The guards that were guarding the sealed tomb saw all these happen especially when there was a huge earthquake and an angel appeared and rolled the stone away. The guards were shaken with fear and became like dead men. It says in scripture that when the women went to tell the followers; some of the soldiers who were guarding the tomb went to tell the leading priests everything that happened. Then instead of all of them falling down to worship the Messiah; they along with the older Jewish leaders devise a plan to tell a story that the disciples came at night while the guards slept to steal the body of Jesus. They give the guards a lot of money to go with their lie. The problems with this is that His disciples and many others actually saw the risen Lord. He appeared for 40 days after the Resurrection eating and talking to many people. One of the times before over 500 brethren. 1 Cor. 15: 6. I am getting ahead of the reading so I will stop here. One other note here is how could the soldiers that witnessed everything at the tomb not turn to Christ right then? Was it hardness of heart? Was it complete denial of what happened? Or was it just love of money? Maybe the fear of losing their own life`s for Jesus was no longer there. Maybe it was all these things. I guess they felt that it was just easier to go with the flow and go with what the priests were saying. They were only thinking in the short term but not considering the long term of where they would be spending eternally. Thank God that we as believers came to Christ and will spend eternally with Him.

  7. It is important to remember that the angels did not remove the stone from Jesus’ tomb to let Him out, but to let others in so they could know what had happened. And although the women’s wondering where Jesus was makes sense, how gladdened they were to find that things had happened just like Jesus said they would. I also like that the angel specifically told them to tell Peter about what happened. God was concerned for where Peter was mentally, emotionally and spiritually after denying Jesus. And how compassionate and endearing that Jesus would come see Mary and it was by virtue of Him saying her name that she recognized who He was. And it is always interesting to read how John can’t help but mention twice that he beat Peter to the tomb. And how hardhearted the soldiers and Jewish leaders were that even in the presence of the reality that Jesus rose from the dead, they still did not believe. It just goes to show that it is about the willingness to believe, not about the ability to believe.

  8. Lenten day 39 When Jesus spoke to Mary Magdalene, it brought tears to my eyes. Just imagine being the first person that Jesus appeared to! Interesting, the comment that, if I understand it correctly, some Jews even today think that the soldiers stole Jesus’ body.

  9. All the events that took place fulfilled prophesy, and that goes to show that prophesy is true, real and reliable. And there is more to come, the Lord will make sure of it. It would be wise to be a follower of the Lord when future events unfold as it is written in the Word of God.
