Jesus understands that He must die to accomplish His mission and for fruit to be born from His life. He desires to bring His Father glory and then the Father affirms Him in His life. Jesus came to bring light into the world and so whatever ideas people had about the Messiah needs to be tested against what Jesus reveals the Messiah is. He did many miracles to convince people who He was but God revealed through Isaiah that many would see and not believe. But others did believe. May we not seek the praise of men over the praise of God. And everything that Jesus is, says and does it just reflective of who the Father is. SO when you see Jesus you see the Father. And Jesus has brought salvation to all who will believe.
Day 12
The people that were waving palm branches are now becoming confused that their Messiah would live forever. Jesus is talking about dying. What a great analogy he uses of a kernel of wheat falling to the ground, and if it dies, it produces many other seed. Jesus continues and says whoever serves me must follow me. He was talking to the Greeks and the Jews that surrounded him. His death and His resurrection is for everyone and anyone who will believe in Him.
Lent day 12
Psalm 88; Ezekiel 21; The Life of Jesus 5.20
Lent 2026 – Day 12
“The light will be with you for only a short time more. So walk while you have the light. Then the darkness will not catch you.”
Jesus knew He must die to see His Father’s plan fulfilled here on earth. Like that grain of wheat, He would die but He would leave the seeds to save so many. The people that choose to believe, choose to walk in the light. Just like when you walk around in the dark and end up bumping into things and getting hurt, we must walk in the light to see our way, to follow His path for us…the path He made through His death and ressurection!
5.20
I’d be confused too, how can Messiah die? Is Messiah not supposed to be God? We are greatly blessed to have Scripture to read. Can God die? But, can God be pierced? Zechariah 12:10 says He can, and will, and they will look at him.
““Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.” John 12:27 . Jesus was determined to do the will of his Father even under the enormous pressure of knowing the details of his death. But he also knew the outcome – the salvation of all people who believe and that Gods name would be glorified forever. So he moves forward with strength, wisdom and courage.
