Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all you mind, and all your strength and Love your neighbor as yourself. Imagine a world where this was true of people. Selfless love shown to one another and all people working together in peace to bring glory to God! These are the most important commandments because if we are truly following them then our hearts and minds will always have the right motivation driving good decisions and we would put others first and care for one another rather than hurting each other. What an amazing thing that would be!
The Pharisees and the herodians working together. Hated each other but not this day their hate for Jesus much stronger. Just like Pilate and Herod the day Jesus was crucified became friends. To try to outwit God. Brilliant!!! Completely and utterly embarrassed! No marriage in heaven.!! Tell you what I think in private just in case my wife reads this. To love the lord thy God and to love your neighbors Every other commandment will fall into place. To grow up in the 60,s. When most people lived putting God first and others before themselves. What a difference from the Me generation today. A secular world
Lent 2025 – Day 7
Day 7
5:9 – 5:11
Day 7
Lent Day 7
An expert in the law of Moses question Jesus. All the law and prophets are to be based on these two commands. Love the Lord with your whole being. Heart soul mind with all your strength. And love thy neighbor. Loving them as you love yourself. Jesus told the expert he was close to God’s kingdom! Sounds easy? If it were, we would spend our days doing this. We have to deal with the world but Jesus says it can be done.
5:9 – 5:13
The Pharisees try to trip Jesus up, as some will seek to do to us, and Jesus handles it all well, both answering their questions as well as getting to the heart of the issue that is raised. There seems to be no right answer about paying taxes to Caesar, and yet Jesus says they should but in a way that no accusation could be made against Him for His answer. And He takes care of the Sadducees clarifying that their question has no basis, but then clearly shows resurrection is a reality, something the Sadducees did not believe, and that is why they were Sad u see…..(sorry I couldn’t resist). And lastly, a teacher of the law tries to challenge Him but is willing to asses His answer objectively. And when he agrees with Jesus, and even adds further substance to the primacy of loving God completely and your neighbor as yourself, Jesus let’s him know that his heart is in the right place and therefore close to the kingdom of God. Yet it is only through faith in Jesus that one can enter. Let’s hope this teacher got there.
