  1. The king of kings enters Jerusalem at Passover on a donkey. Not a horse with chariots. A gentle and peace filled God wanting to restore mankind to himself. But the truth was hidden from them. Their meaning of restore not the same as God’s. The fig tree had no fruit and neither did Jerusalem. The dead tree and the dead people at the temple. Neither one producing anything!

  2. God orchestrates every detail of His plans right down to a donkey for Jesus to ride. I imagine Jesus riding this donkey would become one of many “a ha” moments the disciples would have after Jesus’ death. So many of His teaching about His purpose here on earth and how it would happen would become so clear after His death. In the meantime we have the all powerful King over everything riding into town not in a chariot with a massive entourage but rather our humble Savior riding in on a donkey!

  3. Jesus tells two of His disciples to go and get a colt. They obey and find it as He says. There are two donkeys in the Matthew account, but Jesus is only to sit on a colt [young donkey} that has never been ridden before. This all comes about as Jesus says and as it was foretold by Zechariah 9:9. {Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold thy King cometh unto thee; He is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.} This is the first coming when He comes as a Savior in peace to bring people to salvation in and through Him. The second coming will be when He comes as King of kings and Lord of lords. According to Biblical times when a king rode on a donkey, it was for peace. But when a king rode on a stallion, it was for war. [The Bible Knowledge Commentary]. In 520 BC, God raised up two prophets for Israel. They were Haggai and Zechariah. Generations before the time of Jesus. Only the first coming has been fulfilled. The second coming is still yet to come when He comes as King which Zechariah also foretold about. Over 2500 years now, but it will happen just as was foretold. God is true to His word. God bless.
