  1. The Holy Spirit fills the room and we see another miraculous sign from God. The speaking in tongues is definitely a spiritual gift and therefore has it’s place, although its use in corporate settings can often be misused and the Bible clearly expresses that it shouldn’t be used without someone there who can interpret it. This event was different because the people heard the apostles words in their own language therefore they could understand what was being said. The Holy Spirit made a way for everyone to hear the word at the same time in their own language…pretty cool!

  2. Lent Day 30
How Breath taking it must of been to see Jesus disappear
into the clouds. Just for believing you can live through and hearing In all differant languages. The flames of fire and a great wind. Flames behind each one of them. How blessed are we that Jesus allows us that same Holy Spirit so freely. Thank you Jesus

  3. Wind fire. God has used these to get man’s attention for centuries. By memory. Pentecost 40 days after resurrection? Peter the best analogy. No filter. Quick tempered Peter. Now bold but humble. Denied 3 times. Fear. Now he stands before thousands preaching the messiah was Jesus and you crucified him. Cutting them to the bone. No fear. Holy Spirit!! Wisdom comes!! Had 3 siblings all A students. Me. C-D. Holy Spirit gave me more wisdom then the 3 combined for once in my life I was energized by something that mattered so much more than anything I was taught. Full of joy pressing on to draw closer. Not for knowledge but wisdom to understand a little more the love of God for me.!!! I will never comprehend the measure of that. Just look to the cross and I am completely overwhelmed in my soul

  4. Good comments! When the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spoke boldly about Christ. God made it possible for the all the people to understand what the Apostles were saying in their own tongues. Yet the people out numbered the Apostles. The people heard in their own tongues. This is amazing! Not just languages, but dialects. God cares about each one of us. Other thing that is amazing is the Apostle John`s conclusion. His comment that if everything that Jesus spoke about were written in books, the whole world would not be big enough to contain it. Only so much was written down and he says why. The answer was that you may believe and have life through His Name. Thank you, Jesus!

  5. ”And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.“
    ‭‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I was thinking of the people hearing each in his own language, and the contrast with the confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel. God didn’t want the people unified in independence from Him and perceived self-sufficiency at the ToB. Here at Pentecost, the Holy Spirit unifies the peoples languages to be unified in the Gospel, unified in God’s church.

  6. What a powerful and visible way that the Holy Spirit comes on the apostles. This is necessary to help those who are originally receiving the Spirit a way to identify something unique is happening and the work is coming from God. The noise also draws a crowd so they too could see what was happening to these followers of Jesus. It is in this context that Peter shares His Spirit inspired message that cuts people to the quick and 3,000 believe. I just love that through this those who thought they had eliminated Jesus truly expanded His influence because now the Spirit can work Spiritually through every believer, just as Jesus had alluded to. And I often think how many miracles Jesus did when at times the gospels just share generally that Jesus healed the sick they brought to Him..well clearly there was enough to fill too many books to imagine. It just reminds us that what we have in the gospels is just a snapshot of all the great things Jesus said and did.
