Lent 2025 – Day 19
What an example Jesus gives for all of us in His prayers to the Father.
Lent Day 19
Jesus prays that we become one with them. He prays to God to keep us safe. Jesus will go back to Heaven as he is not of this world. I believe that’s why I and we do not feel part of this world as we wait and follow God’s word to become one and live for Heaven.
The greatest privilege To be able to listen to Jesus speaking his hearts desire to his father. Wow!!!! Are we going to be able to say the same. I’ve finished the work you gave me to do. Bringing glory to you. To think during this prayer Jesus says I’m not praying for those that are in the world. Can’t imagine not having this relationship. That we may be one with Jesus and our father.
Woke up at 3am this morning feeling uneasy. Started breathing in Lord. Breathing out Jesus. The peace that surpasses all understanding. Fast asleep
Lent Day 19
Lent Day 20
Day 19
Overwhelming to think of Jesus praying for His people, praying for ME! The Son of God praying for our protection and our unity. Acknowledging that as believers we are no longer of this world but a part of His kingdom.
I also love how often Jesus stops to pray, both publically and alone. Every time I don’t take something to God first I remind myself how often even Jesus prayed. He brought everything to His Father first. He would seek Him in everything as an example to us of how we should act. Satan wants us to stew and fester when we are hurt or frustrated, he wants to rob us of the peace that comes from laying those things at God’s feet. The peace that Mark experienced at 3am. Great reminder to take all things to God first!
The definition of eternal life jumped out to me.
And this is eternal life: that people can know you, the only true God, and that they can know Jesus Christ, the one you sent.
Lent 2025 – Day 19
In praying directly to His Father, Jesus shows that He knows exactly what He is to do to bring salvation to mankind and glorify His Father, and in return the Father glorifying Him for the work that He has done. Jesus then shows that He is thinking more of others than Himself, and prays for the apostles and us (those who would believe because of their testimony). He shows that He has been protecting them from a world that hates them and prays to the Father to continue to do that when He is gone. He prays that they would be one as He and the Father are one which is the same prayer He prays for all believers. He also prays that us and them would get the point of what God is trying to do in our lives: that we would know Him and His ways and that we would accept the mission that He has for our lives. May we all be the answer to Jesus’ prayer!
Jesus loves his followers and he takes the time to talk to his Father about them before he dies. He prays for us all – to keep us safe from the Evil one, to give us true joy, to make us ready for service to make us unified, and to show us God’s glory. And we can also pray this prayer for each other so we can live a life that fulfills God’s purpose.
