  1. In the previous section Jesus is taken up to heaven as he was talking with his followers. Then two angels told them that the way that Jesus was taken up to heaven so will he return in the clouds. Acts 1 gives us a further description of this but also the Holy Spirit coming down and indwelling them. Acts tells us who was there. The apostles started speaking in other languages so that people that spoke these other languages could understand the things said about Jesus. Acts 1 also includes that after the apostles did this they all unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day`s journey. And when they were come in , they went up into a upper room and with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women. The list is given of the apostles and then says the women and mother of Jesus and with his brethren. In the conclusion the author [ John] writes [ There are many other things that Jesus did. If everyone of them was written down, I think the whole world would not be big enough for all the books that would be written.] Only key things so people would believe that Jesus is the Messiah. Christ made salvation so simple that a child could understand. It would however be interesting to learn maybe when He comes back the other things that Jesus did not mentioned in scriptures. But then again maybe it won`t matter for we will be with Him.

  2. God often does things to show that He is on the move…and the baptism of the Spirt for Jesus’ disciples is no exception. God needs to make sure both the apostles and the observers know that something unique and powerful is happening…something that only God could orchestrate. And what a miracle for the apostles to be speaking one thing, whether intelligible or not, and everyone hears it in their own language. What a way to set up a situation for people to have listening ears to hear what these guys for whom a miracle is happening are going to say about it. And that is exactly what happens in the book of Acts….and 3,000 respond to Peter’s message…a very good first day for the church age/the age of the Spirit’s presence in all those who believe!

And one can only imagine all the things that Jesus said and did that were not included in the Bible. And I agree Dennis, wouldn’t it be great if that is something we find out in heaven….I just wonder if it would be audio or video? lol

  3. What a sight to see and hear! Everyone hearing this in their own language and actually hearing it. Instead of it just sounding like a confusing orchestra of voices on top of each other, people actually heard clearly in their language. That is like a fish and loaves kind of miracle! Like who else could make that possible other than God.
Amazing to think of the amount of miracles, signs, and wonders that He did that we do get to read about and still so many more that they couldn’t be included. I do look forward to Heaven when i do think we will be able to know all these things and so much more!

  4. The purpose of the gospels are very important. So that we will believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God. By believing this, we have salvation, eternal life with the Father. There is nothing that could be given to us that is greater than that!

  5. What an amazing confirmation of the work of the Spirit through the believers as those among them hear them speaking in their own languages. I was wondering if they each spoke a different unique language to specific individuals in the crowd, or if they spoke different languages consecutively so all heard their own languages, or if the Spirit was allowing anything spoken to be heard in one’s specific language. This is a complex miraculous movement of the Spirit!
