Reading along with us in Job? Here’s today’s reading:
Job 39 (NIV)
1“Do you know when the mountain goats give birth?
Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?
2 Do you count the months till they bear?
Do you know the time they give birth?
3 They crouch down and bring forth their young;
their labor pains are ended.…..Continue Reading
You can not read chapters 38 & 39 without taking a moment to be blown away by creation and all its intricacies! All the detail that goes into the delicate balances of nature and the animals. Things scientists have studied and will continue to study finding new things each day. Baffled over how things work and take care of themselves separate from man. If anything man destroys God’s work in nature and disrupts the otherwise perfect balance He has created.
But for God to talk about the shore stopping where He chose or the oddity of a flightless bird like the ostrich shows that not one detail slipped by Him. He is the creator of all things and left nothing to chance…to think that same creator is working each day in my life is pretty incredible!
Again God continues His talk to Job. He uses the animals that He has created to illustrate to Job. They are really animals that He has created not myths even when He mentions the Behemoth in chapter 40 and the Leviathan in chapter 41. Both dinosaurs. Cleary by their descriptions. The Bible refers to dinosaurs as dragons for the word dinosaur did not exist unto 1841. Somehow people started to believe that Dragons were a myth because people weren`t seeing them anymore so therefore they must be a myth. It has gotten so bad that the word dragons was taken out of the Bible and most often translated jackals. Even in a earlier chapter where it read dragon in the KJV it read jackal in the NIV. Yet throughout history men have fought and killed dragons. It is recorded history throughout the world. People throughout history have drawn or made statues of them. Also at times listed with animals that we have even now. It actually is so overwhelming with so much information. I understand that jackal was translated already by another word so why make the word that was translated dragon now become jackal. Was this done so the Bible would look better to the world. For the world says that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago where God said that they were created the same day as mankind was. Which would be day 6. Also that Adam brought in sin when he disobeyed God. There was no death before Adam`s sin. So why are they finding cancer, etc. in fossils. God doesn`t lie but mankind does because they would have to answer before the Living God. By the way dinosaurs were land animals. Dragons would include dinosaurs and other creatures like flying ones and those that dwelled in the waters. May the Lord bless us all.
Job 39: God’s inquiry regarding the biological world, again, the answer is, no, I do not know, no one knows.
So many great comments between today and yesterday. These chapters are just amazing. For me, verse 29 really jumped out at me:
“From there he spies out the prey; his eyes behold it from far away.”
God is talking about the eagle here…but what really stands out to me is how many nature shows I’ve watched that have covered in extensive detail the absolutely amazing eyesight of the eagle. How long did it take science to discover what God has already told us here…YES, eagles have amazing eyesight, because God made them that way. Such goodness and wonderful revelation of God here. Grace and peace to us all!

The section about the Ostrich struck me as funny:
“The wings of the ostrich wave proudly,
But are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s?
14 For she leaves her eggs on the ground,
And warms them in the dust;
15 She forgets that a foot may crush them,
Or that a wild beast may break them.
16 She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers;
Her labor is in vain, without concern,
17 Because God deprived her of wisdom,
And did not endow her with understanding.
18 When she lifts herself on high,
She scorns the horse and its rider.”
The poor parenting of the Ostrich seems like a mistake in creation, but God created her that way.
In my animal husbandry I sometimes think of the behavior of animals as suspect, but I guess that’s how God designed them. Sometimes I understand HIs reasoning, and sometimes I don’t.
