  1. What a great analogy is made here considering all the earthly wealth and benefit that can come from the earth and with all the marvels of creation, none of it includes the wisdom as to how to engage with it. That wisdom only comes from God and we must seek Him and HIs word to receive it. And the reason why the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom is because it is only by virtue of understanding who God is that we can accurately asses who we are, and how desperately we are dependent on His wisdom. SO if we do not seek Him for wisdom, we will never truly get it.

  2. The picture of how desperately, dangerously, and faithfully man will work to pull riches from the earth is such a great comparison to how we should seek God for wisdom. To know Him is to fear Him, to respect Him and appreciate Him. We do not understand, cannot understand without Him. For all He has done, created, and continues to do; His thoughts are so much higher than ours and the more we dig into him the more of that wisdom He shares with us.

  3. Men go to the deepest, blackest places where no animal or human roam to search out things “to put an end to the darkness.” But where can real wisdom be found? The way to it is not through anything of this world. There is only one place that it dwells and that is with God. He is the way to wisdom and understanding. It is the most precious thing we could ever acquire. And he will give it to us, all we have to do is ask. “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6
