and a place where gold is refined.
2 Iron is taken from the earth,
and copper is smelted from ore.

they search out the farthest recesses
for ore in the blackest darkness……..Continue Reading

  1. Job is mentioning on how men mine for silver, gold, sapphires, rubies, topaz, crystal, precious onyx, or pearls that they do not compare to Godly wisdom. Men strive to get these riches yet they should be trying to get Godly wisdom. Job`s question is where shall wisdom be found. But God`s answer is this in Job 28;28. [ And unto man He said, Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.] This is true wisdom for it will guide and protect us. Proverbs 8;10,11,13 [ Receive my instruction, and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate.] Of course as we know the book of Proverbs is about wisdom. It can also be used as a devotional in one of the months for it has 31 chapters. May the Lord bless us as we seek to have His wisdom in our daily lives.

  2. This was a great comparison Job used when talking about man in general. We work so hard for fleeting things of this word and yet the thing that is truly valuable is wisdom can’t be bought.
God is the true source of wisdom and yet we put the things of this world in the way of our relationship with Him. How we spend our time, our money, and even where we focus our attention reveals where our heart lies and often that is not on the things of God.

  3. What a great chapter and one that is so true as well. Humans are good at acquiring wealth and delving to the depths of creation to discover knowledge and things that will be useful to life, to satisfy their pride and greed. And yet what they miss is wisdom, the ability to know what to think, say and do in a way that is right before God and beneficial to all. God is the One who has wisdom and He has orchestrated His creation and His plan according to it. It is by understanding who God is and seeking Him that we gain wisdom and His Spirit enlightens us to it and indwells us to help us live in it. May we grow in it as we learn what it means to fear the Lord, honoring and loving Him with all of our being.

  4. Only in the Lord can wisdom be found.
And he said to the human race,
“The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,
and to shun evil is understanding.”
