Reading along with us in Job? Here’s today’s reading:
Job 23 (NIV)
Job
1 Then Job replied:
2“Even today my complaint is bitter;
his hand is heavy in spite of my groaning.
3 If only I knew where to find him;…..Continue Reading

What a conundrum Job is in to seek to be faithful to God and follow His ways, and yet not sense His presence or not know where He is or what He is doing. He is certainly the One to be regarded and followed and He can do as He pleases, and so we can trust Him completely whether we understand or do not understand what He is doing. We are also assured that He will never leave us or forsake us and we have a far greater covenant with God established in the blood of Jesus than Job had. May we withstand difficult times with strong faith and a willingness to follow God even when it doesn’t make sense. Because God has shown Himself faithful….

Job 23
Reading this I think of Jesus on the cross, all the physical pain to bear and all the anguish of the treatment of the people, but it was the separation from His Father that truly brought Him agony. Job is in a desperate place where he does not feel God, he does not see Him working and that beyond any of the physical troubles is what is bringing him so much pain. And yet in this darkest hour he says “He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold”. Somewhere Job trusts God is working and his faith is still strong….I pray to have this kind of faith in my darkest times!
Job 23
Although Job can’t find God, he trusts Him and is steadfast in his faith.
Indeed! Job’s attitude is correct, he rests on the Word of God.
Job 23
Job, in his distress, cannot seem to find the Lord. He knows he has done everything he could to follow his ways, and he is determined to continue to do so. But he fears what will happen next. Will his suffering and pain continue? Not knowing this is terrifying. His thoughts are valid. When we are in the midst of suffering, it is difficult not to be fearful and terrified wondering what will happen next. But we can know that God is with us, he will never leave us or forsake us. And he works all things out for the good of those who love him no matter what the situation.
Job can’t see God, and even if he could state his case, he knows God would not argue with him. But Job takes solace knowing that God knows his ways.
